How do I get a USDOT number?

To get a USDOT number, new applicants must register online via the Unified Registration System. As of December 12, 2015, paper registration forms are no longer being accepted for initial applications, only for updates to existing registrations.

Until URS is fully implemented, there is no charge for a USDOT number. However, if you also want to apply for operating authority (MC/FF/docket numbers), the cost is $300 per authority.
